We are coming home

We have finally completed the last step in our paperwork and have everything we need to come home. Due to the connecting flights available from Mumbai we do not leave till Sunday morning and will arrive back in Tassie on Monday.

The thought of home has put a big smile from ear to ear on both of us.

Mackenzie is going great guns, she continues to put on heaps of weight and now feels so big to us. She has even started to get chubby cheeks.

Anyone is welcome to come visit us at home next Tuesday.... The welcome mat will be out.

Still no progress getting home

Ever get the feeling you were very bad in a past life!!!!
Our DNA test has be held up in Customs in Australia with no idea when it will be cleared. It has now added about 3 days to getting home. At this stage we are not even sure we will make it back next week.

We are making preparations for Hannahs memorial service but it all depends on when we get home. We hope to have this a few days after we get home. Will let you all know once we have a more clear idea.

Hope to upload some more photos of Mackenzie tonight.

More Mackenzie Goodness

I am being such a good girl for mummy and daddy.
I had my DNA test on Saturday and I cried a little bit, Mummy just wanted the doctor to hurry up and finish.

Nanny wanted to see some photos of my hair so here it goes......

All my clothes are a little bit big but I will grow into them.
I went for my checkup with the Dr today and I weigh 1955gms, nearly to 2 kgs. Dr was very pleased with my weight gain as I was only 1790gms when I left the hospital.

I am starting to have more awake time lately and love looking at my Mum & Dad.

Little Miss Mackenzie

Here are some facts about Mackenzie:

  1. On day one I spewed, pooed and weed on mummy.
  2. I love to get my hands out and wave them in the air.
  3. I am very settled and love my feeds.
  4. Got my daddy wrapped around my little finger already.
  5. Had my first bath today - Didn't like it much.

Our little girl is in Heaven

Our baby girl Hannah past away yesterday afternoon after not recovering from the Heart surgery on Monday. We are devastated and are trying to cope the best we can.

We are doing whatever when can to get home as quickly as possible now, hope to do in 7-10 days.

Update

Unfortunately Hannah has gone backwards in the last 48 hours. The doctors have said her lungs are now starting to harden and things do not look good. All we can do now is wait, the doctors have done everything they can.

This is a difficult time for us so if we do not reply to calls or messages please understand.

Wednesday

We found civilisation today. We went to a mall close to the city, it was just like any Westfield at home. Mick says I am banned from going back but I am sure I can talk him around.

Mackenzie will be discharged in the morning. We are soo excited about bringing her home with us but also a little bit nervous. She is feeding well and sleeps nearly all the time so hopefully she will stay settled with us.

Hannah has improved slightly overall today but her lung pressure remains high. We hope everyday that this will come down, they will continue to monitor this as a priority over the next few days before they move forward with Hannahs recovery treatment. Until then we keep our fingers crossed.

Stay tuned for more photos tomorrow night when Mackenzie is with us.

Update

Sorry I have been a bit slack but the last few days have been full on.
Hannah has had her operation yesterday and she is doing well. The only issue at this stage is her lung pressure is not coming down. The doctors are trying a new medication today and we hope and pray that it has improved when we visit her tonight.

Mackenzie is now off the fluids and solely on bottle feeds. She will most likely be discharged to us in the next few days OMG OMG.....

We are moving to a 2 bedroom apartment tomorrow and are looking forward to having the extra space. It will be an extra 15 minutes to visit Hannah, but worth it.

Mick and I are both doing OK, slight touch of the "go to the tolilet every 5 minutes" but maybe thats just because we like eating the Indian food so much!!!!!

Day 3 - and a little secret we were keeping

Two beautiful baby girls were delivered via a c section at 8.15 am (Mumbai time) today.
Both are in the NICU and doing very well.
Mackenzie Patricia 1.87kg
Hannah Jane 1.84kg
We are in love with our baby girls and now cannot imagine life without them.

Mackenzie is in the NICU at Hiranandani and we can see her twice a day, morning and evening. The peadiatrician is very happy with her and she may spend up to a week at the hospital all depending on how she goes in the next few days.

Hannah was transported via ambulance to Fortis hospital and is stable and only under the oxygen mask. She is feeding and will have her heart surgery most likely on Monday.

It is difficult to get photos in the NICU but we will try.

Day 2

Actually got a decent nights sleep last night but woke early. Realised very quickly that the traffic we saw yesterday was nothing. It was a public holiday yesterday and today the traffic is 10 fold.
Also had our first Autorickshaw ride. Mick laughed his head off why I held on for dear life!!!!

We visited Dr Soni at the hospital and she is very happy with how things are progressing, we will go back to the hospital again tomorrow for another visit.

Here are some photos from todays adventures:

Arrived safe and sound

We arrived around 3am this morning and so far we are tired but have adjusted well.

Someone please remind me Qantas connections don't leave much time and it's no fun running through duty free to catch your connection and no time for shopping.

Day 1
Well first surprise was how good was the Taxi's we had today - Nice and clean and airconditioned and one thing for sure is the Melbourne taxi drivers have got nothing on these guys. Funniest part about travelling around is vehicles have signs on the back that say "HORN OK" so funny.
We travelled out to the clinic to visit our Dr today and this was a huge cultural experience for us both. Who ever commented that going to India for your first trip overseas is an initiation of fire is absolutely correct!!!
We both felt completely out of control and helpless this morning but this has improved as the day has gone on.
One thing for sure is when you drive past the slums and see the families and children its a sobering reminder of the amazing life we live at home.

Hotel is really good and the staff are very attentive, big supermarket next door (really cheap) and shopping centre across the road. Mick brought a watch today for around $7 Aust after bargining him down from $15. The indian outfits and jewellery is superb and I will definately be purchasing some goodies to bring home.

On the baby front no news to tell yet. We go visit the obstetrician at the hospital tomorrow and will discuss further details around the delivery.

Will update with photos etc as we get some. Today was just about taking it all in.
